E-Learning Korean App

Baewo Korean is a mobile application that creates an immersive and enjoyable learning environment. Prioritizing user experience and user interface design, ensuring that the app is intuitive, visual and easy to navigate.

Project Overview

The Problem

There are many Korean language learning apps that are not user-friendly or visual. These problems often lead to difficulties in retaining information, as learners may find it challenging to engage with the materials effectively.

The Solution

Beawo Korean is user-friendly, visually appealing, easy to study app, and provide a perfect experience for learners of all levels.

My Role

This was a solo project that was part of my UI & UX design course. The goal was to create a full design flow from case study, wireframes, to high fidelity prototype.

Tools

Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop

Duration

2 weeks (40 hours)

Benchmarking

Through this research, I evaluated each app's user interface, user experience, and features to determine their strengths and weaknesses.

I specifically focused on identifying the key features that made each app user-friendly or unfriendly, such as their visual design, ease of navigation, and effectiveness in helping users learn the language.

Workflow

Subsequently, I developed the application workflow to define the sequence of steps that users will follow to interact with the application.

By mapping out the flow of the application, I was able to identify potential bottlenecks and areas for improvement in the user experience.

This allowed me to ensure that the application will be intuitive and efficient, providing users with a seamless experience as they navigate through the app's features and content.

Wireframes

Next in the design process, I created the wireframe, a basic visual representation of the app's layout and functionality.

By focusing on the app's structure and navigation, the wireframe allowed me to prioritize and organize the app's features and content in a logical and user-friendly way.

Through this stage of the design process, I was able to identify any potential design flaws or usability issues, ensuring that the final product will provide users with a clear and intuitive interface.

Typography

To achieve a friendly and approachable look and feel, I opted for the Raleway typeface, with its rounded edges and elegant letterforms.

Colors

The selection of colors for an app is a critical aspect of the design process, as it plays a vital role in shaping the overall aesthetic and messaging of the app. In the case of the Korean language learning app, I chose to use orange and purple as the primary colors and blue and yellow as secondary colors, for the following reasons:

Orange and Purple as Primary Colors:

Orange is associated with enthusiasm, energy, and creativity, making it an excellent choice for an app that aims to inspire and motivate users to learn a new language.

Purple is often associated with intelligence, wisdom, and creativity, which aligns well with the app's focus on education and learning.

Blue and Yellow as Secondary Colors:

Blue is often associated with trust, reliability, and communication, making it an ideal choice for an app focused on teaching a new language. Blue is a calming color that helps to instill confidence and trust in the user.

Yellow is associated with joy, happiness, and positivity, which aligns well with the app's goal of making the learning process engaging and enjoyable for users.

Overall, this color palette was chosen to create a warm, welcoming, and energetic look and feel that supports the app's message of making the language learning experience fun, enjoyable, and accessible.

App Icon

The application icon incorporates the primary color scheme utilized within the app. The logotype abstractly represents the name of Baewo Korean through the use of the initial letter "B" (ㅂ) in the name.
